Music challenge day 5 - Daddy's song

Day 5! If you haven't been following these posts, I'm taking part in a 30 day Music Challenge hosted by criticalcrass at Quirky Pickings. Today we are to choose a song that reminds us of someone. Every time I hear "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers, I think of my dad. He had a dark green 68 T-bird that he adored, and he would drive around with the windows down, 8 track (yes, I said 8 track) blaring. He had a beautiful deep baritone voice, and he would sing this at the top of his lungs. Every time I hear this song, I am transported back to happy times spent on road trips.

I had planned on having a rotation of dad's favorite songs on my playlist. Notice the playlist is gone? Apparently the site is LOADED with a very, very nasty virus. My scan caught it, but I don't want to take any chances. So for now anyway, I'm leaving my beloved playlist off.

I love Unchained Melody, Kat! I like the Righteous Bros. but I am partial to Ricky Nelson. It just shows how much younger you are than me cause the song that reminds me of my dad is by the Platters...Christine

Hi, Kat! Thanks for letting us know about playlist. That is scary!

I love "Unchained Melody," and I loved the Righteous Brothers. And your dad's car sounds so neat!

I would be hard pressed to tell you my father's favorite song, but it would be something like "Sommeone to Watch Over Me." He also loved the really, really old song, "The Tennessee Waltz." He was a big lover of waltzes, and I think that one was popular in the 1920's when he was in college.
I had a much older father (old enough to be my grandfather).

XO,

Sheila :-)

Kat,
Just when I thought I would try a playlist..just as well..I am still trying to figure out leaving comments.
Your post touched me deeply..My father died at 45...He had a great big, Bonneville convertible in the sixties, and his favorite song was "Ring of Fire", by Johnny Cash..funny, what comes up with such prompts.
THanks,
Jessica

Oh the 8 tracks. You had to have a suitcase to carry them around with you.
