Outdoor Wednesday - Rain at last!

It's Wednesday once again, one of my favorite days of the week. Not only are we half way through the workweek, it's also time for Outdoor Wednesday so graciously hosted every week by Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. Be sure to stop by and see everyone's beautiful pictures of the great outdoors!

Remember my post awhile back on the effects of our horrible drought? This is what the San Gabriel River looked like in Mid August of this year, just 2 short months ago...

Our weather pattern has finally changed, and we've received substantial rainfall over the past month. We are still well below normal, but things are starting to look up.

It's amazing to me how fast the grass greened up, and the trees look so grateful! I swear they are standing taller again!

Now hop on over to Susan's and see what everyone else is sharing.

We've had such a long, long dry spell too. In fact an historical drought here where I live, all the rainfall we've had is welcomed...these two photos really show a remarkable recovery....

It always amazes me how quickly the grass greens up after a bit of rain! It is so forgiving! Glad things are looking up in your neck of the woods. Thanks for stopping by, I am going to check out that song by Mr Ellington, sounds fun. I am also glad you like Santa Baby, so many people think it odd that i like that song, but it is fun! Also glad I am not the only Christmas music lover!! Thanks again, Sue

Wow, is that amazing. What a transformation!

Unless you have experienced drought even pictures don't relay the emotional desire for rain you experience on a daily basis. Then, God just turns on the spiket and wallah...refreshing comes. Sometimes our spiritual life is the same way isn't it.

Glad the refreshing has come.

The difference in the river is amazing. Living in Oregon I guess I just take the rain for granted, and I shouldn't.

Thank goodness! I couldn't believe those other pictures you showed us before. This is a GREAT relief. We've had rain for a few days, and we needed it because things were getting pretty dry. We've had a dry fall which is unusual for Florida.

Sheila

Isn't it amazing how the earth rebounds once it is watered. We have had more than our share of rain all summer.

Hi Kathy, we had one rain that was substantial as well and our grasses have greened up around here too, but in CA we water our lawns or the neighbors get mad at ya. But I notice in certain places of the US, they don't water their lawns, certain places in CA too. But the landscape around the ranches is nice and green as well as the mountainsides looks so pretty now and the lakes are nice and full great for fishing. Have a great evening.
Thanks for posting in my ODW!

Kathy, Gee- can't believe you've been so dry... Glad you finally got rain. Amazing how things can green up so fast. And to think I complain about rain here in OH! As soon as some of my trees turn, the rain begins, and all those lovely colors are gone.
I grew up in NM where we had all four seasons and when it rained it was gentle- no storms. And when it was done raining, the sun came out and the day was beautiful. Oh how I miss that weather...
Thanks for visiting- it's always fun to meet new friends...

Wow!! The river has REALLY changed with the rain!! Hard to believe it went from practically non-existent to being a proper river again!!

I should have sent some of our rain to you -- this was one of the wettest summers I can remember.

Good to see the trees looking happy again :-)

I'm so glad you posted these ... it must be a great relief to finally have some relief from the drought! We've had far more rain than usual here in West Tennessee over the past few months. I'd have been more than happy to have shared. Since it doesn't work that way, I'll just say ...

Happy Halloween! ;)

I am always surprised at what comes back to life when the rains come.
