Weekend Reflections - Stevie Ray on Town Lake

Stevie Ray Vaughan, shores of Lady Bird Lake, Austin Texas

This was taken while night shooting in Austin a month or so back. The City of Austin erected this statue in 1994 to memorialize one of our favorite sons. We were experimenting with light painting and I really like the way the statue turned out.

Many thanks to James at Newtown Area Photo for hosting Weekend Reflections. Click to visit his fantastic gallery of photographs and check out some amazing "reflection" photos.

That is a really cool picture. At first I was wondering where the reflection was until I saw the light. :) I wish I saw this statue when I was in Austin.

Huge SRV fan. the photo is really interesting. Most of the background is blurred but the tower on the right is clear as is Stevie. Is he really that color?

I like the way the bright lights behind is given emphasis, thereby enhancing the whole picture. A great reflection shot.

Hi Kathy...

Ohhh...I love Stevie Ray Vaughan!!! Honestly..I had never heard of him until I met my husband...he has several of Stevie Ray's albums! I sure didn't know that he had a statue in honor of him in Austin...how interesting!

Thank you so much for coming by and taking a peek at my new stackable pedistal plates! I really enjoyed your sweet note!

Beautiful shot!
I love the reflected light and the subtle reflections beyond the branches on the right.
I'm thinking a little night shooting practice is something I should do. :)

Thanks for your visit!

Hi Kat! How interesting that you all have a statue of Stevie Ray! I like the effect of the light, too! I've been a bad bloggy buddy and could think of nothing but my roof problems, so I had missed the previous post. How cool that there are ruins!!! I love the sun shining through...kind of a Stonehenge-ish effect! Hope you are feeling much better!...hugs...Debbie

What a gorgeous photo Kathy! Austin is so pretty. My entire Moms side of the family is from Texas. I have a cousin that lives in Austin. He's a sports editor for the Austin Times for many years.

Thanks for your great encouragment on my healthy eating and life changes. It's been tough but I'm still plugging along. I'm grateful for the results I'm getting. I do feel so much better these days.

~Happy Halloween! ~Melissa :)
