It's Wednesday! Halfway through the week, and time to share our favorite outdoor photos with Susan for her fun event Outdoor Wednesday. After we spend some time watching the parade, make sure to visit Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ to see what everyone else is sharing this week.Everyone loves a parade! The last weekend in April means one thing - Georgetown's Annual Red Poppy Fest. This is a fun community event filled with great shopping, food, music and fun. Every festival should start with a parade, don't you think?
Georgetown High School Marching Band - go Eagles! It will be interesting in a few years when we have a second high school. I guess we'll have two bands to cheer on!
Georgetown finally has it's own pipe and drum corp. A group of dedicated firefighters have spent several years putting this together. They were wonderful! Is there anything more stirring than the sound of bagpipes?
Standing in line for a snow ball. My niece Desi had so much fun this year . . . 
... that she wanted to "stick around" all day - sorry, couldn't resist! The kids area was a lot of fun this year. It was manned almost entirely by students from Georgetown High School and they were really great with the kids.Hope you enjoyed this glimpse of our little town. Oh to answer your question about the Derby winner....no, he was an unknown winner that was never highlighted because he was a 50-1 long shot! The one man you may be thinking about was the retired Biology Teacher/Principle that only had one horse trained and entered in the Derby that others talked about making a big deal of his one and only horse. Some trainers go through 20-30 horses looking for the "one" so for him to have only entered one was sort of joke to them....I was hoping he won at first just for that reason but I guess it just wasn't his day.
It looks as though everyone had a terrific time. We all love a parade.
I love parades. Such a good time for communities to come together for an enjoyable time!
