Outdoor Wednesday - Let's go to Rockport!

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time to visit Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ to see what everyone is sharing for Outdoor Wednesday. If you haven't visited Susan yet, what are you waiting for? She has a beautiful blog full of wonderful ideas. Just wait until you see what she grows in her yard, it is simply gorgeous. And for all of you bookworms, she also has a separate blog "A Southern Daydreamer Reads". It's not too late to join the summer reading challenge!

This week I'd like to share a bit of our recent trip to Rockport, Texas. It was a much needed (but way too short) break over the 4th. Rockport is a lovely little fishing village on the Texas coast that has turned into a mecca for the arts. For now I'll just share a few pictures, I'll do a longer post later about the trip.

When we arrived at the condo we had rented, this was the view that awaited us from the living room.
Now join me on the balcony and look to your right. Isn't that a beautiful sight?

As the sun began to set and the moon began to rise, we prepared to walk down to the end of Key Allegro to see the fireworks display.

The fireworks are set off over "Little Bay". Good thing, as Texas has been under a severe drought and even the coast is dangerously dry this year.

More fireworks. This isn't the best picture ( I think I sneezed lol), but I wanted you to see all of the boats that gather in the bay to watch from the water. Wouldn't that be a fun way to view them?

Hope you enjoyed this little taste of the Texas coast. Stop back later this week and I'll have more of our trip posted! Now don't forget to stop by and visit Susan. This is a really fun blog event and I promise you'll see some beautiful pictures.

Oh Kat! I've been waiting for this post! What an incredible view! How did you ever manage to leave such a place?? I love it! My favorite photo is the fireworks with the reflection on the water and the outline of the boat. I think your dh should frame that one for you! I can't wait to see more!...hugs...Debbie

Oh Kat, that just looks so relaxing. I love the view you had. The fireworks that show all the boats in the water is just such a pretty picture. I agree with Debbie, you need to get your DH to frame that one. So glad you got to get away for a little while, I know you needed it so bad. Hugs, Marty

Looks like you had perfect ringside seats for the Fourth, too! My kind of vacation!

Happy Outdoor Wednesday Kat,
Beautiful view....there is nothing to me more exciting, more peaceful, more romantic, and more spiritual than seeing boats on the water and the lake itself....I grew up with a fishing daddy and I loved the boat docks and walking up and down looking at all the gorgeous big boats....
and fireworks on the water are awesome
thank you for bringing us along
have a wonderful time
thank you for the birthday wishes you left for my daughter Amy at Barbara's
Angel hugs

What great pictures you have. I have only watched fireworks on the water one time, and I loved it.

Oh, how pretty! I might have partaken of the fireworks this year if I could have sat at a condo with your view. But I hate the crowds and noise, so I stayed home and we watched a movie instead. Great idea you had there!

What a beautiful view awaited your much anticipated trip to the shore. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of your trip. I've been to Texas many times, the most notable was spending ten days on the set of Urban Cowboy, but I've never been to the beaches there. Can't wait!

Great photos! I love seeing photos of fireworks, sneeze and all, lol! The boats on the water remind me of a fishing village on Prince Edward Island up here in Canada. Thanks for the tour!

The fireworks over the water must have been beautiful. I've always wanted to spend The 4th on the beach. I think that fireworks reflecting in the water would be breath taking.

Kathy,

What a great place to visit. I need the name of the place you stayed~the view from your room is the best!!

Incredible fireworks display! Our lake shoots them off a little island and the view of all the boat lights is as spectacular as the fireworks show!! Glad you had fun!!

Happy OW!! :-)

Now I want to head for Rockport. LOL

Thank you, Kathy, for your sweet comments on my blog. Isn't that just amazing coming across Lillie Louise our new little sheltie? She's going to be a jewel. We are having so much fun with her and we seem to get stupider with each dog!!! Our 4th sheltie in 40 years and we've decided to cook our own dogfood this time! xoxo Nancy

Woo Hoo you sure rented a perfect place for a 4th celebration! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kathy - We were going to the one in Round Rock - the small dog area? We've never been and my son was supposed to call early and meet there but I think he's overslept! So later maybe Bull Creek in Austin. Is there a good one in Georgetown? For now we're going to the new Petco in Pflugerville for the Grand Opening. The main thing is to get her used to other people and dogs. It's just so darn hot if you don't get our early it's miserable. I'd love to go to GT today to 2nd Sat but it's TOO HOT!!! :)Nancy

Hi there and thanks for coming by my blog and leaving a message regarding MY Rockport trip. It looks like we are definitely traveling in the same circles. In fact...I'm going to be in Georgetown and the Belton area this weekend for a wedding...small world huh?!? Anyway..You asked about the cool, but over grown house I posted about....and after further checking with my travel partner and local native of the Rockport area, she said the house is in Tivoli. Just around the bay from Rockport. And the deli/art gallery we went to was named Deli-Art (I believe). It's in an old church building and it a block or so off the main drag and close to a lot of the beachy type shops.

Have an awesome weekend!
