25 days, 12 hours and counting!

In 25 days, 12 hours and . . . we will be taking off for a short trip to Rockport on the Texas Gulf coast. If you've read my blog for long, you know that we normally vacation on the Florida gulf coast every year. This is the first time in 11 years that we aren't going to be able to make the Florida trip. A combination of scheduling, job conflicts (not to mention ever increasing tuition!) have conspired to make the trip this year impossible. DH and I have been trying to figure out a way to squeeze in at least a "mini vacation" and we found a great place in Rockport that was available over the 4th of July weekend.

This is the view towards Little Bay from the balcony of the condo where we will be staying.
Another view from the balcony . . . we've been told that we will have a great view of the fireworks over the water from this spot.
First stop is going to be the Rockport Art Festival.

Then we will have lunch at Moondog's - such a great view!

I'm starting to destress just thinking about seeing this for a few evenings! Who knows, maybe we'll enjoy this so much that we won't have to make that 18 hour drive anymore! 3 1/2 hours in the car sounds MUCH more relaxing don't you think? Rockport is a really neat little coastal village, full of fabulous art galleries, shops and restaurants. In fact, one of our favorite places there is a combination art gallery/restaurant! I look forward to bringing back lots of pictures to share. And I really look forward to leaving the stress of the last few months in the waters of Aransas Bay!

Sounds like a great choice - no question that 3 1/2 hours is better than 18 - yikes! It really looks beautiful - enjoy! Linda

Hi Kath! I think you will enjoy that place just as much as Florida. The view is picturesque and maybe not as humid either. Have a good time! We will be in Destin over the 4th of July so I will let know how Florida is...Christine

Looks like a lovely trip you have planned, but Florida will miss you. Will look forward to your pictures though!

Oh this looks like such a great place to visit! I know how you feel about the count down and excitement that builds when you're getting ready for some R&R! I leave in less than a week for a week's vacation in Key West. My brother is getting married. My DH is staying home this time with the horses but my parents are also celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary so they'll be there too! Have a wonderful time there! I'll check back for pictures of your stay! I know you'll have some great photos! Luanne

I think you're going to have a fantastic time in Rockport :-) The shorter drive is definitely a bonus, and you can't go wrong with those great views from the balcony :-)

Change can be a good thing :-)

Well I'm absolutely green with envy over your upcoming trip!! It reminds me of a place called Kema (sp?) that's south of Houston. Wonderful to be right on the bay...I know you'll have so much fun!
THANK YOU so much for droppin' by the cabin! I think I'm probably the slowest blogger in bloggyland! Haha!! :-) L~
