Outdoor Wednesday

It's Wednesday! Not only is it hump day, it's time for Outdoor Wednesday, graciously hosted by Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ This is a fun day where we get to share our favorite outdoor spaces and pictures. If you haven't seen Susan's blog yet, you really must. She has the prettiest, most organized blog you will ever see. Make sure you check out the pictures of her roses from last summer, you will be amazed!

I found this lovely hint of spring blooming at mom's house recently. I just love these, they are
so delicate and lovely.

These are just spreading like crazy. Can't wait to see what she has in a few years.
This may not look like much right now, but this is a sure sign of spring to me . . .

These liitle green shoots are on a Rose of Sharon tree that grows next to our house. . .
When we bought this house 20 years ago, we moved in on Thanksgiving weekend. We noticed three "bushes" on the side of the house, but had no idea what they were. I was pregnant at the time, and working in the yard was the last thing on my mind. In May, our darling daughter was born and as we pulled up in the driveway after arriving home from the hospital I noticed something pink on the side of the house. Investigating further, my DH asked me to come out and look. There was the "bush" nearest Cait's window, covered in beautiful pink flowers! I had no idea what it was, but it truly seemed a sign to us. Now, every year when this tree blooms we are reminded of the joy of that day, bringing our precious daughter home for the first time.

Hope you enjoyed this little touch of spring. Now go visit Susan and see what everyone is sharing for today!

Kathy,

This was such a sweet post, bringing home Cait when the bush was blooming...ahhhh, sniff, sniff! What a sweet memory that makes!

The first picture is a lily of the valley, I have them all over, they spread with the wind. Also, your photography is awesome.

Happy OW! :-)

Hi Kat, you were right, I do love this post for so many reasons. The flowers are gorgeous and one of my favorites is the Rose Of Sharon. What I really love is the story of the bushes blooming pink when you brought Cait home. I don't think I could or would ever move from that home. It was a sign, definitely, that you all wre meant to live there.

Oh, what a cute story, pink flowers in honor of your new baby girl! I'm so jealous of all the signs of spring, we are still under the white stuff here. Happy Spring!

I love your Rose of Sharon story and the sweet memory associated with your daughter. We planted about 6 of them 3 years ago and lost two of them. I enjoy their beautiful blooms and seeing green on yours makes me excited. I examined ours today and there isn't any sign spring is coming yet here.:) But soon!

I love your Rose of Sharon story -- so sweet! When we moved here last year, I had no idea that two large shrubs above the stone wall alongside the road were Rose of Sharon bushes. Thank goodness someone told me.
And Lily of the Valley already? How exciting! No green here yet at all, loved seeing yours and your mom's.

Hi Kathy! I love this post...some sure signs of Spring there! I have two roses of Sharon in pots in my garage for the winter and looked to see if there were leaves...yes, there are!! These were volunteers that came up among some grape hyacinths I dug up from my grandmother's yard. I think of them as gifts from her...one for me and one for my sister...perfect!! Have a great weekend...hugs...Debbie
