Friends and flowers

Time once again for Wordless Wednesday, one of my favorite events hosted by Dixie at French Lique, Texas. If you haven't been to French Lique, pay a visit at http://frenchlique.blogspot.com/ You'll be glad you did. The word for this week is friends.

Now make sure you go visit Dixie to see all the other posts for this week!

Wednesday is here again, which means it's Outdoor Wednesday, graciously hosted by Susan at A Southern Daydreamer. It's so much fun to share our outdoor scenes, whether they be in our yards, our favorite vacation spot or any other outdoor space. Be sure to visit Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ to see everyone's outdoor photos for the week.

Do you know what this is? If you are from Texas you do! This is the absolute, positive, undeniable proof that Spring is here! This is my first bluebonnet sighting of the year. I was so excited to see this, and I didn't even have to risk life and limb on the highway access road to get this picture - these were springing up in a lawn 2 blocks from my house.

Bluebonnets grow in profusion along the highways and backroads alike, all over Texas. We have Lady Bird Johnson to thank for spurring interest in highway beautification, and the fruits of her labor can be seen all over our state. This year is probably not going to be a banner year due to our ongoing drought, but these hardy flowers usually find a way to bloom somewhere!

Hope you enjoyed a true sign of spring here in Texas. Now jump on over to Susan's to see what everyone else is sharing.

Oh I hope we get Bluebonnets in the San Antonio area this year... we haven't had ANY rain, so chances are slim...

Love your friend photos,... The band friends are adorable!

Oh Kat I so enjoyed all of your pictures, the sheer joy on your face of you hugging Cait at her graduation is priceless. All of the others are wonderful also. The Bluebonnets are just gorgeous, and when they cover the sides of the road they are just breathtaking. Hugs, Marty

Bluebonnets! I hadn't seen any yet. Maybe with the promised rain we'll get a few more this year. Loved your friends pictures, too. Especially the furry little friend is so cute! I'll send you the flyer and when I get it done directions. It's about 6 miles from 35 on 306. I'm so excited that you all are coming and I get to meet you! :)Nancy

I have never seen blue bonnets in real life. How sad is that? I've been to Texas many times, just not when the blue bonnets are in bloom. Some day, I want to see them.

Thanks for the pics...

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

What beautiful bluebonnets! I've never seen one in real life. However, when I visit Texas I see them everywhere -- on clothes, paintings, dishes, souvenirs, calendars, you name it. Looks like I need to plan a springtime visit.

Like the photo of friendship with the kitty :-)

That blue bonnets looks so cute. And they are just found beside the roads?

Isn't it nice to know that nature can be quite a gardener himself? (hah! I'm referring to it as if its a person :-)

I wish we have those. It's probably a not so much fuss kind of flower. perfect for a beginner like me :-)

beautiful pictures of smiling friends!

those little blue flowers are a joy to see..I wish I could scoop them up and place them on my table. you would not believe but we are back into the cold, near zero temps and more than 50 miles per hour winds. It just takes so long for spring to come to Wisconsin.
