Wednesday, hosted by Barb at Grits and Glamour. Barb started this fun event to showcase what we have hanging on our walls - a true indication of a personality, I think. Make sure to visit Barb @ http://gritsglamour.blogspot.com/ to see all of this weeks posts!
This was a Christmas gift from my darling daughter Cait 2 years ago. Bless her heart, she was a freshman in college with no money to speak of. She raided our photo files on all of our computers and came up with this gorgeous collage of some of my favorite pictures from family vacations at the beach. She then sweet talked Daddy into printing it on canvas and stretching it for me.
Needless to say, this is one of my most cherished gifts. She really put alot of thought and work into this. If you look closely, you will probably recognize alot of the shots from previous posts and my sidebar (and yes funny Mr. Crab is there too!) She really captured the feeling of our family time together. I told you I have the best daughter in the world, right?
Hope you enjoyed seeing what's on my wall. Don't forget to check Barb's blog to see who else is sharing their wall decor with us this week!
It's time for another edition of Wordless Wednesday, graciously hosted by Dixie at French Lique, Texas. Where is French Lique you ask? Just hop on over to http://frenchlique.blogspot.com/ to find out! Visit Miss Dixie to find a list of this weeks participants in Wordless Wednesday - the word for this week is "books". Enjoy!
And since it's Wednesday, that means it's time for Outdoor Wednesday, hosted by Susan at A Southern Daydreamer. Make sure to visit Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ to see a list of this week's participants and visit all of their outdoor spaces.
Several years ago, our little town approved plans for a large outdoor shopping center to be built on property that had been a family owned ranch for over a hundred years. Most of the "old timers", including myself, were not too thrilled with the idea. We have worked very hard in Georgetown to retain our small town charm, and many people have worked tirelessly to ensure that our downtown square remains vital and busy! The developers promised that this would not be a "cookie cutter" project, and that they would retain natural areas, trails and outdoor space for public use. They also made arrangements to place signage in the center directing people to visit the square and historic courthouse. They also arrange for shuttle buses to the downtown square during festivals and fairs. I am pleased to say that they lived up to their promises. Below are just a few of the areas that can be enjoyed by people shopping at Wolfe Ranch.
A view of the hills surrounding the shopping center.
This is one of the many patio areas in this development where you can relax (or send hubby when he starts driving you nuts!)
View of the fountain area from one of our favorite restaurants. When the weather is pleasant, there is nothing nicer than sitting on the patio with a cool drink and watching an amazing sunset.
Hope you enjoyed this little tour. It's nice when a large development can complement a small town rather than overrun it!

Hi Kat...Oh do I love teh photo collage! What a wonderful gift! It will always remind you of all of your happy times together as a family! And...wow...the Library of Congress!! Does anybody get to check those books out?? lol It was really unusually nice of the development to actually take your town into consideration! Good for them! Have a great evening...hugs...Debbie
The photo collage was such a clever idea...daughters are simply awesome (mine is 14)!
I'm here from WW: I don't know that if I walked INTO the Library of Congress, that I could ever walk OUT, I would be caught up in the majesty and magic of the place. I'm bad enough in a local library!
Good job on that development company, to make and hold a promise on NOT building every square inch of land. I once worked as an environmental specialist, and was able to regulate the kind of building that could take place in protected areas. It was a little something to do to save the natural places.
Thanks for sharing.
Love the collage. It has a serene feeling about it. Gifts from the heart are always the most cherished.
What a lovely present! She did work hard on it and it shows!
That is wonderful! I love each and every pic, and it shows how much thought she put into it. Sometimes the best gifts are those just like this. I love Mr Crabby! He's my kind of guy! LOL Blessings, Barb
I like all three posts ☺
The photo collage is such a thoughtful gift. The Library of Congress is so impressive. The shopping center is unique, I'm glad they didn't ruin the landscape.
Have a great Wednesday!
The sunset is beautiful and I just love the collage your daughter made!

Hi Kathy! The photo collage is so precious. How thoughtful of Cait to do that for you. You really have the best daughter! And how lucky of you to have a shopping area within a naturally beautiful surrounding. That view is breathtaking...so relaxing....Christine
It's nice when developers cooperate with their customers! The area looks lovely and retains a unique look!

:)
From one Kathy to another - What a clever idea to post the Library of Congress pictures. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Wow. I feel like we got three for the price of one (so to speak). Great pictures all. That sounds like a great place to shop, and I absolutely love the photo collage your daughter did.
Charlotte
Kathy that was a wonderful thing for your DD to do! And that shopping area has a beautiful view! My small town has resisted all attempts at putting in any charming shopping spots. But I bet they'd relent if they could have something like this. Girlfriend I hadn't been able to shop for what felt like forever with my mom sick and all. I can't tell you how good it felt to get out and thrift!! Those dollars were burning a hole in my pocket! Lol! Vanna
Ohh, I LOVE that photo collage that Cait made for you. That is absolutely precious! I know those pictures have fond memories.
That development is also really nice. I've never seen a place like that with such fantastic views before!
What a fun Wednesday post, so much to enjoy! How sweet of your Cait to make that lovely collage. Thanks!
Cass

Kathy,
Your Cait is quite computer savvy~those pictures are just fabulous. My heart would be bursting with a gift like that.
I also loved the "big" library. Would love to visit that myself!
And finally, there was a happy ending for your town!
Great posts. See ya next week!
xoxo

Hi, thanks for visiting my blog...it's so nice to meet you.
The sky is beautiful in the OW Post and that's wonderful that the developer tried not to disturb the natural beauty...the water fountain is such a nice feature.
I wish I knew how to make a photo collage...I have been looking online trying to learn how...the one your daughter did for you is beautiful!
Hope you have a great day!
Queenie~
I am impressed. I can barely get 1post up, and you did a 3-fer!
